Around the World: Tamale Pie (Mexico)

$25.00 per household

We are heading around the world in our virtual kitchen to taste test traditional holiday dishes from all over the globe. Presents aren’t the only thing you’ll find Mexican families unwrapping on Christmas Day. Savory meat or vegetable-based tamales are the main event at dinnertime. In fact, it’s common for families to host a tamalada, or tamale-making party, in the days leading up to the event. Since corn husks aren't always easy to come by we have reworked this recipe into a delicious tamale style pie. Kids will learn how to create our take on this traditional dish step-by-step with our chef instructor. For this class, you will need ground beef (or chicken, turkey, plant-based meat, beans, lentils, or other), onion, bell peppers, garlic, corn, crushed tomatoes, green chilies, cornstarch, chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper, shredded cheese, corn flour (masa), baking powder, salt, broth (chicken or vegetable), butter and fresh or dried herbs.

Later Event: December 15
Adult: DIY Infused Vodka
